Los Angeles artist Kriss Knapp reinterprets landscapes through abstract form, pattern, line and color. Her works rely on a repetitive, labor-intensive coloring process that can only be described as meditative. One part visual statement and one part therapy, the magic mountains are physical manifestation of thoughts, and often incorporate an element of documentation.
Kriss studied painting and sculpture at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, and has been a visiting artist at Parsons School of Design's New York Studio Program. She believes in the healing potential of creating and interacting with art, and the role that art inhabits in our daily lives. She has recently been expanding her unique style to pottery and objects for the home.
